Lmao, and you say I dont understand politics? Did it cross your mind that this is a great strategy? By him coming out and saying this is far from over and still going to be tough that it will rally more people to vote. As opposed to saying "Hey, we got this in the bag..no worries" which would make a lot of voters not show up at the polls because they already think he has it in the bag by him saying it that it is. Dont you think he would turn more people off by being cocky and saying its over already? Oh yeah, I'm the dumb one.

    Published: Sept. 27, 2008 at 2:29
WASHINGTON, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Campaigners for Democratic U.S. presidential nominee Barack Obama privately believe he will win by a landslide, sources say.

Citing unnamed sources, the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday senior aides to Obama, a U.S. senator from Illinois, are convinced by private polling data, as well as an unshakable faith in the strength of their grassroots get-out-the-vote efforts in key swing states, that he will prevail over his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

Obama himself also shares the conviction, the newspaper said, attributing his apparent calm to his belief that his strength among new voters in key states has been underestimated both by the media and the Republican Party.

Although he has taken much criticism from some Democrats that he hasn't done enough to woo blue-collar supporters of former primary campaign foe Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., his top aides are reportedly convinced Obama has a strong chance of winning nine states that voted for President George Bush in 2000.

They include such stalwart Republican states as North Carolina, Virginia and even Indiana, which have not voted for a presidential Democrat since the 1960s, the Telegraph said.</div></div>

an older article but again it says the same......he felt he would win in a landslide
    <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Obama confident predicts a landslide
BY MICHAEL SAUL in Jefferson, Iowa and MICHAEL McAULIFF in Keokuk, Iowa
    DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

Sen. Barack Obama bubbled into 2008 confident he's on the cusp of a victory in Thursday's Iowa caucuses, boasting that not only would he win in November - he'd do so in a landslide.

"In four days, we just might pull off something that changes the course of this country," declared Obama.

He told a crowd in Jefferson, Iowa, that in the general election against the Republicans, "I intend to whup 'em so good that it won't even be close."

The remarks put Obama at odds with the conventional wisdom for early presidential contests - that it's better to lowball expectations and surpass them.

An aide to Sen. Hillary Clinton was amused by the Obama camp's predictions of finishing on top and snarked, "That's a good strategy - if you do."

But a Des Moines Register poll today bears out Obama's optimism, showing him as the choice of 32% of likely Democratic causcusgoers - up from 28% in November. It showed Clinton holding steady at 25% and John Edwards virtually unchanged at 24%.

At a New Year's Eve event in Ames, Obama was buoyed by the new tally.

"So we might just pull this thing off. We might just pull this thing off, Iowa. Who would have thunk it?"

His wife, Michelle, and his campaign manager, David Plouffe, echoed the candidate in drumming up expectations for a win.

"We all have the sense that we're on the verge of something incredible," wrote Michelle Obama in a fund-raising e-mail.

Plouffe told reporters the senator has the strongest organization in Iowa, with 37 field offices, more than 200 field staffers and thousands of volunteers. He said Obama is getting bigger crowds.

Plouffe conceded that the polling showed there's "a remarkable amount of fluidity in this race."

Still, he said, Obama is on the path to victory in Iowa and the next round of primaries and caucuses.

"We believe, by Feb. 6, we'll be turning our attention to the general election," he said. Feb. 6 is the day after Super Tuesday, when more than 20 states hold their primaries or caucuses.

If Obama loses Iowa, he might now have a much harder time explaining it.

Clinton yesterday stayed mostly in a play-it-safe crouch, taking just a couple of jabs primarily aimed at Edwards.

But she also had to do a little damage control after a key booster slammed Iowa's caucuses. Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, who came here over the weekend to argue Clinton can win key swing states like his, told a newspaper in his home state that it's time to end Iowa's exalted status. It makes "no sense" because the process is "hugely undemocratic" and "excludes so many people," he said.

Clinton refused to answer reporters' questions about Strickland four times during her first two events of the day, but went out of her way to lavish praise on Iowans for their President-picking prowess.

"Iowa gets to go first for a purpose - because you take this sooo seriously," she told a crowd at the Keokuk Middle School.

"You really give it the time, the effort. I am so impressed as I travel across this state."</div></div>

Re: sounds like hes not so sure hes got it wrapped up

Sorry, but I didnt see the quote where he said he would win in a landslide. Just says his inner circle thinks he will win in a landslide if he carries those states. I am a Obama supporter and I think he will win in a landslide, now did Obama say that just now or did I? Of course the people around him will say it, because they are going by internal polls just like the Mccain campaign is now when they say Mccain will pull off the upset. Try again.

Again where did he say it was going to be a landside? It said he beleived it, he still believes it now but is not going to say it. That just simply says he has confidence that he will win, because at the time it was a lot closer. Show me the quote where he said it was going to be a landslide?

Hey dipshit, that article is from the democratic primaries. I'd say he had a lot of confidence when he stole Hilarys automatic bid she was supposed to have.
